Who writes here

Mike Chen

Marketing operations writer · Reviews call tracking and paid-channel attribution tools

Mike has spent the last seven years inside lead-gen agencies and B2B service businesses, deploying call tracking on more than 80 client accounts since 2018. Before writing about martech, he ran paid-channel operations for a 30-client home-services agency where call attribution was where margin lived or died.

He covers what platforms actually do in production rather than what their marketing pages promise. Areas of focus: dynamic number insertion, Google Ads conversion attribution, multi-touch reporting for service businesses, and the agency operations side of running call tracking across many client accounts.

Our editorial standards

Every review on this site is written by a named author and reflects hands-on testing against a documented task list. We don't fabricate authors and we don't run AI-only writing through the site without a human editor's name on it.

How we test

The hands-on baseline

For every roundup-style guide and platform review, we run hands-on testing against a documented task list. For the 2026 top call tracking software guide, that meant 47 hours of live testing across 14 platforms, with identical Google Ads campaigns, identical landing pages, and identical inbound-call panels. The full per-platform setup logs, the task list, and the scoring rubric are documented on the methodology page.

Refresh cadence

Pricing data is current as of the last-updated date on each piece. We refresh pricing quarterly and re-test platforms when major releases land or when our scoring would meaningfully change.

How we make money

Affiliate commissions

This site earns referral commissions when readers sign up for tools we review through links on the site. That's how most independent review sites in this space are funded.

What that means for our rankings

Our scoring rubric is published, the dimensions are weighted in advance, and the rankings fall out of the scores. Commissions do not influence rankings. If a vendor offered us a richer affiliate deal in exchange for a higher rank, we'd say no, and then probably write about it.

The disclosure

The footer of every page on this site discloses that we earn affiliate commissions on tools we review. The FTC requires this, and we take it seriously. We are an independent review property; we are not owned by, operated by, or affiliated with any of the products we cover beyond the standard affiliate-link relationship.
